Dr. Neal Bauer, Psy. D
About
I am a licensed psychologist with over a decade of clinical experience, practicing via telehealth in New York, Florida, Kansas, and Vermont.
My experience working with multiple populations across settings and diagnoses has informed my therapeutic focus. I specialize in working individually with young adults to older adults experiencing depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, panic, ADHD, and life transitions, such as aging.
I am particularly passionate about working with those who are adjusting to temporary, chronic, or terminal medical conditions. I hope to help this population in their feeling of helplessness and the belief that there is no solution or way out of the difficulties that they are facing. I aim to try to help my clients explore such feelings and come to a place of acceptance in order to help them move forward in a way that feels meaningful for them. In addition, I also work with the caregivers of those experiencing such pain and helping them adjust to the client’s condition.
With a versatile approach drawing from CBT, DBT, ACT, and neuropsychology, I create a nonjudgmental, empathic space to meet clients where they are in life. I also utilize solution-focused therapy and motivational interviewing to help my clients uncover the problem that they want to fix and work towards a solution. We often know something is off, but it is difficult to pinpoint what exactly is wrong. Together, we can figure out what it is that you want to work on and find the solution and motivation to help you move forward in your life.
I believe in everyone’s capacity to grow. Each person has the unique ability to shed their destructive behaviors and adopt new skills to improve themselves. I strive to help clients identify goals and make the changes to achieve them.
I received my Master’s degree from Columbia University and a Doctorate of Psychology from LIU - Post.
