My name is Lyudmila Gonik, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, providing services in-person and virtually in New York and virtually in Florida and Vermont.
I typically work with those who suffer from mood disorders, including depression and bipolar II, anxiety, relationship issues, chronic illness, life-transition stressors and difficulties coping with work and school. I specialize in working with those with ADHD to manage their symptoms, both from a process standpoint and helping to build skills. I aim to help clients with ADHD offset deficits at work and within relationships to make their day-to-day lives easier and happier. Additionally, I specialize in working with individuals age 65 years or older.
I use my own immigrant experience as a tool for understanding my clients and am passionate about helping those struggling with acculturation. I often work with immigrants adjusting to living in the USA and those from the former Soviet Union.
I believe in human capacity for positive change and overcoming adversity. One should never lose hope. I use a gentle and creative approach to guide my clients on their journey to healing and growth. I believe that one approach can not fit all and draw from various therapeutic approaches, from somatic therapy to cognitive behavioral and emotionally-focused therapy, to accommodate my clients' personal needs. I also incorporate ACT, MBCT, SFBT, and motivational interviewing into my work.
I will make you feel comfortable and safe to explore and share your inner struggles, aspirations and what you expect from therapy. WE collaborate and come up with a treatment plan together based on your needs and preferences. I believe that a client is an expert in his/her/their own life, and I am just a "navigator."
I received my Master’s in Social Work from Fordham University and have been working with clients for over 15 years, providing services in both English and Russian languages.
