Juli Kearney, MFT-Intern

About

I am a Marriage and Family Therapy Intern working both in person and via tele-health with individuals, couples, and families, throughout New York State. My goal is to provide clients with support during their journey of self discovery and personal growth. I believe that a big part of our self worth and identity is connected to feeling safe and secure. My goal is to build trust and create this safe space. I value collaboration and trust in order to open up a client’s curiosity for non-judgmental self examination.

My interests lie in working with couples and families, as well as individuals within the context of the family system. I am passionate about understanding how childhood experiences might be influencing who we feel we are and how we feel in the present day. I provide treatment to those experiencing anxiety, self-esteem issues, relationship issues, along with family and childhood trauma. We are all unique and complex beings with our own stories, strengths and weaknesses and my style helps model for the client self-love, kindness and acceptance.

My therapeutic lens draws from several evidence-based treatment modalities depending on the needs of the client, including Emotionally Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, CBT and mindfulness practice. Following a pathway which includes guiding clients to identify emotions, building skills to overcome any self-defeating or non adaptive coping mechanisms.

I am committed to helping clients create meaningful positive change in their daily lives in order to empower them towards healing, balance and a productive life.
