Mark Naghsh, LMSW

About

I am a Licensed Master’s of Social Work, dually licensed in NY and NJ, and I specialize in individual and couples therapy. I have over 20 years experience in anxiety, borderline personality disorder (BPD), depression, and substance use. My areas of focus include: anger management, relationship conflicts, men’s mental health, challenging family dynamics, self-esteem issues, ADHD, OCD and trauma.

Within couples therapy, I typically work with those experiencing communication and generational issues as well as infidelity and high conflict. The modality I draw from primarily is EFT which helps illuminate the issues underlying the conflict, as well as The Gottman Method.

Many people begin therapy in order to get help in setting and meeting goals, where they want change but feel powerless to shift their established patterns of behavior. Via mutually set goals, I help my clients explore these obstacles via self-exploration and narration, empowering them to regain ownership of their hopes and dreams.

Although my therapy style is integrative, I draw heavily from CBT, Motivational Interviewing and Gestalt therapy. I serve as a guide to my clients to explore their emotional MO in order to let go of maladaptive coping mechanisms rooted in the past, and replace them with skills aligned with their life goals.

I believe that each of us has our own story to tell, and I invite you to schedule a call to begin the pathway towards redefining and updating your life story.
