Jurnee Coker, MHC-Intern

About

Hello, Iā€™m Jurnee Coker, a passionate counseling intern working both in-person and via telehealth with clients in New York State. I am dedicated to empowering individuals on their journey toward emotional well-being and personal growth. I specialize in helping clients manage anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, trauma, emotional disturbances, and family issues. I also provide support in building self-worth, cultivating confidence, and improving boundary-setting and coping skills.

I integrate Client-Centered Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) skills to address the unique emotional needs of each client. This holistic approach allows me to offer practical tools for navigating challenging thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Using psychodynamic techniques, I help clients explore unconscious patterns and past experiences to gain deeper insight into their current struggles. At the same time, I use DBT skills to support clients in developing effective coping strategies, managing intense emotions, and enhancing interpersonal relationships.

I am deeply committed to creating a compassionate, non-judgmental space where clients feel heard, understood, and supported. My approach is rooted in building a strong therapeutic alliance based on trust, empathy, and collaboration, empowering clients to explore their thoughts and emotions without fear of judgment.

I am committed to continuously seeking new ways to serve my clients and help them achieve their goals. I believe that self-exploration, introspection, and the development of emotional regulation skills are key to healing and growth.

I am currently pursuing my Ed.M. in Mental Health Counseling and M.A. in Psychological Counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University.
